I was diagnosed with glaucoma 18 months ago, when I was 66 years old.
My normal pressure glaucoma was picked up in a routine eye check. I have worn glasses since about 45 years of age and have had my regular checks every two years following. I had used the same optometrist since first wearing glasses and was picked up by my new optometrist.
I am now seeing an eye surgeon and initially prescribed Lumigan but am now using Ganfort with better results. My next revision is in July and could lead to surgery depending on the results.
I suffered from severe migraines from around 40 years of age and, as I have no known relatives with glaucoma, it has been suggested as a cause.
Many thanks to Glaucoma Australia for the current Newsletters - I found the article on medication therapy very interesting, and I will take this on board.
If you experience migraines like Pam you may be at a higher risk of developing glaucoma.
Make an appointment with your optometrist and get your eyes tested for glaucoma.
