I am very fortunate as my father always had problems with his eyes and needed an ophthalmologist.
I am not related but my parents always took me to see the same ophthalmologist as I was short sighted and have worn glasses since I was six courtesy of the UKs national health scheme.
So when we arrived in Melbourne in 1970 I had to be given a new prescription for glasses from Barry Cook and have seen him ever since. I have my own children and Barry talked to me about raised eye pressure and its implications and then Michael Cook treated me for glaucoma and monitored the progress of my cataracts, operating in March 2019.
The i-stent is a marvel - I now live symptom free and no longer have to take drops. The message: get your eyes checked regularly and you will have nothing to fear!
