December 2021

I was diagnosed by professor Fred Hollows who visited Bathurst in 1973 to test the population over the age of 35.

I went to Sydney to see Dr Burfilt Williams, who later referred me to an ophthalmologist in Canberra, who then did a cataract and trabeculectomy operation in 1994 and 1996 respectively. In 1998 Prof Ivan Goldberg performed revision surgery and I have been on Azopt drops ever since.

I am still managing to live at home with my husband and I will turn 90 this year. I am grateful for the fact that I can still read from a Kindle and watch television.

Glaucoma Australia has been very supportive to me since 1996 after my second eye operation. It is a wonderful organisation that has helped many people.
