I was diagnosed with glaucoma 14 years ago aged 66. My ophthalmologist is a very thorough, knowledgeable caring doctor. I visit her every 6 months and is diligent in her care, and I am equally in using my eye drops daily.
I am now 80 years old and truly grateful that I am healthy and am still thankfully able to do everything I enjoy – drive, read, play sport, go to the movies or ballet, gardening, swimming and many other activities helping people in the community.
I also have a typical serous retinopathy in my right eye, giving me only peripheral vision – but my wonderful ophthalmologist and her dedicated orthoptist look after me very well.
My pressures in the eyes are good, my husband puts eye drops in my eyes every night at 6:30pm.
I have Low Tension Glaucoma, but I continue to enjoy life in good health, and do whatever I want. As sight is precious, I look after my eyes diligently. I hope this story is an inspiration to those who have glaucoma.
