Deputy head of Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences at the University of Melbourne

A/Prof. Bui completed his Masters and PhD in visual neuroscience in 2003, at the University of Melbourne. Upon completion of his PhD he was awarded an NHMRC CJ Martin fellowship to undertake studies into the pathogenesis of glaucoma at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland Oregon. He was recipient of an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship in 2014.

He is currently deputy head of Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences at the University of Melbourne and his research group uses a range of pre-clinical models and well as clinical approaches focused on understanding the interactions between retinal vasculature, immune cells and neurons and the risk factors underlying neurodegenerative diseases including glaucoma and diabetes.
