Qualifications: B.Sc. (Maths, Electronics). Having completed a Bachelor of Science, James was fortunate to be offered a research position in the School of Optometry at the Queensland University of Technology, where he had many enjoyable years working with Professor Michael Collins and Professor David Aitchison.

James entered the commercial world of ophthalmics with Rodenstock in Sydney as their national technician.  A few years later, he moved back to Brisbane to work with OPSM Instruments in the role of technical support and sales. He then joined OptiMed Pty Ltd, a major ophthalmic supplier of specialised diagnostic products in Australia and New Zealand, and became a co-owner and director in 2006. 

Over the years, James has been involved in the supply of many new and exciting ophthalmic instruments used in the detection of glaucoma. James, with OptiMed, has helped many charitable organisations over the years by facilitating the supply of donated equipment and technical services, both locally and internationally.

James enjoys working with the great team of people in Glaucoma Australia to try and help bring an end to the insidious disease glaucoma. 
James currently Chairs the Research committee and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
