Dr Ashish Agar
January 2020

Late last year Glaucoma Australia and Marsden Eye Specialists, Castle Hill hosted a glaucoma education evening. Thank you to Dr Ashish Agar for his incredibly enlightening presentation 'Patient Perceptions of Glaucoma'.

Tunnel vision

Dr Agar presented findings from colleague Professor David Crabb whose research explored patient perception of vision loss in glaucoma and whether patients experienced a black tunnel effect or black patches in their field of view.

While we often see brochures, posters and other forms of advertising that depict a 'black tunnel' Professor Crabb's research revealed that of the 50 glaucoma patients surveyed no-one said they saw a black tunnel. So what does glaucoma look like? Click on the button below to watch Dr Agar's full presentation.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to former Senator the Hon John Faulkner who spoke about his own personal experience with glaucoma and orthoptist Anita Noney who discussed eye drop instillation and storage techniques.
