I was diagnosed with advanced open angle glaucoma at 44. With no noticeable signs or symptoms, the news hit me hard, and I felt like my life was turned upside down that day.

In the 12 months since his diagnosis, and since he first connected with Glaucoma Australia and the support group, Mark’s health – including his mental health has turned a corner.
Mark said: “It’s taken me a little while to get here, I won’t shy away from that. It was pretty scary for a while. But what really helped me overcome that was the support I got from Glaucoma Australia and my beautiful wife Min.
“Now, knowing I’m getting treatment, I’m managing the condition and getting the support that I need while meeting some beautiful people, I am feeling more positive and really focused.”
Research shows people with glaucoma who are connected, empowered, and educated, are better at keeping up with their treatment, appointment attendance, have improved anxiety levels, and enjoy much better health as a result.
