E had always considered their eyesight to be relatively stable.

But over time, they began to notice subtle changes - small differences that were easy to dismiss at first. It wasn’t until a routine eye check that things became clearer.

“I didn’t really notice anything significant at the time,” E says. “It was picked up during an eye test.”

Like many people diagnosed with glaucoma, the news came as a surprise.

“I didn’t know much about glaucoma before I was diagnosed,” they explain. Despite the lack of symptoms, the diagnosis marked the beginning of a new journey - one that would require ongoing monitoring and treatment.

E's Story

E began managing their condition with prescribed eye drops and regular appointments with their eye care professional.

“At first, it was just about remembering to use the drops and getting into a routine,” they say. Over time, that routine became an important part of protecting their vision.

Living with glaucoma hasn’t necessarily meant dramatic changes day-to-day, but it has shifted how E thinks about their eye health.

“It’s made me more aware of how important it is to look after your eyes,” they say. Regular check-ups have now become a priority, along with staying consistent with treatment.

While the condition can feel uncertain at times, E has found reassurance in taking an active role in their care. “You can’t always feel what’s happening with glaucoma,” they explain. “That’s why it’s so important to stay on top of it.”

Reflecting on their experience, E says early detection made a significant difference.

Because their glaucoma was identified through routine testing, they were able to begin treatment before experiencing major vision loss.

For others, that’s the key message they want to share. “Get your eyes checked regularly,” they say. “Even if you think everything is fine.”

E’s story is a reminder that glaucoma often develops without noticeable symptoms - and that early detection through regular eye tests can play a critical role in protecting sight.
