The importance of early detection in glaucoma

We’re excited to announce our third and final Live Q&A for World Glaucoma Week, featuring Senior Optometrist, Dr Nihaama Narayanan!

Topic: The Importance of Early Detection in Glaucoma
Date: Thursday 12th March
Time: 07:00 PM AEDT

Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide — yet up to 50% of people with glaucoma are unaware they have it. Often called the “silent thief of sight,” the disease can progress without symptoms until significant, permanent vision loss has already occurred.

This presentation will explore why early detection is critical in preventing vision impairment, risk assessment, and monitoring strategies. Nihaama will discuss practical approaches to identifying high-risk patients, interpreting clinical findings, and implementing timely management plans to preserve long-term visual function.
