After years of working as a Clinical Orthoptist, she was looking for a role that was more rewarding, where she could spend time with patients to understand the impact an eye condition has on their lives, not just their sight. She also wanted to ensure her skills and knowledge gained over the years could be put to use, which prompted her to join Glaucoma Australia as the Senior Orthoptist Educator.

In 2021 Sapna received the Westfield Chatswood Local Hero Award in recognition of the excellent patient support she provides the glaucoma community. Of note is the high level of treatment adherence among her patients, which is more than double the national average.

Sapna is currently undertaking post graduate studies to become a qualified Counsellor. She believes her qualifications as an eye care professional, combined with a formal qualification with psychotherapy will greatly help her role as an Educator and benefit the individuals and their families supported by Glaucoma Australia.
